HELM
Cane Creek's First Suspension Fork
Released 2017
In 2014, after nearly a decade of selling the finest, most adjustable bicycle shock in the world without a matching fork, Cane Creek undertook the development of what would become the Helm. The project was only just getting off the ground in early 2015 when I became Director of Engineering and took on the responsibility of delivering a safe, reliable, and class-leading suspension fork. Over the next two years, my team and I refined the design, developed test procedures and equipment, and built an assembly line from scratch. The end result was a class-competitive suspension fork with several novel features and very low warranty rate.

While my role in the Helm project was primarily management, several of the fork's unique features originated with me. These features include the D-Lock quick-release axle system, the DoubleAir and TripleAir air-spring tuning systems, the negative air-spring charging mechanism, and the aesthetic design of the various knobs and touch-points.
